In competition, drivers are given two (2) non-consecutive tandem laps to move ahead to the next round. The two (2) laps will be judged and count towards qualifying into the best of 8, semi-finals, and finals.
Two laps consist of a leading and trailing car, starting in no particular order. After the first lap, the cars switch posistions and line up for another lap. Passing is not allowed and will result in a zero (0) for the closest corner relative to the pass.
Each qualifying lap will be judged under a criteria of four (4) things.
Speed is a combination of consistency, entry speed, speed carried throughout the corner and exit speed. The faster the better.
Line is judged by how close drivers can manoeuvre their cars to clipping points and thier ability to make full use of the width of the track to his/her's own advantage. The judges are looking for style and consistency.
Angle is judged by the amount of angle a car has going through a corner. The more sideways a car is the better they will score in this category.
Overall Impression is determined by how hard the judges believe the drivers are pushing his/her car as well as how pumped they can get the crowd.
Eliminations
Each corner is worth a total of four (4) points. Each judge will award one (1) point to the winning car under each judged section (Speed, Line, Angle, Overall impression) per corner. In the event either driver spins at any given time, he/she forfeits four (4) points to the opposing driver for the closest judged corner in the lap. Every lap is worth a maximum of sixteen (16) points.
*No passing allowed. Failure to meet any of these standards will result in a zero (0) in the respective categories. If any drivers spin their car they will recieve a total score of zero (0) for the closest judged corner relative to the spin. If any car goes off course in a judged corner it will result in a zero (0) for that corner. Dipping tires off the road is allowed at no penalty within reason.
